Plot:  A father's first attempt at parenting.

Dark Horizons posted this report on a joke in the film: "I read the script to Jersey Girl recently and wasn't sure if this piece of info was already known. Bruce Willis is in the movie and will be playing himself circa Hudson Hawk. Ben Affleck's character is a music PR exec and loses his job after a press conference incident for Willis (aka Bruno, his music name). Years later while applying for a new PR job he meets Willis in the lobby and they have a very funny exchange with each other".

A casting call has gone out for the part of Gertie, the daughter of Affleck's character and the titular character of the film.

Gertie (6 years old - can be older to play younger). The precocious and entirely lovable daughter of Ollie (Ben Affleck). Like her mother, she is down to earth, clever, and a huge fan of the musical Sweeney Todd. While Gertie is able to manipulate Ollie with the finesse of an adult, she is ultimately Daddy's little girl. Please submit Latina and Caucasian actresses.

According to the View Askew website Kevin Smith has finished the first draft. He says it's the best hing he's ever written. 160 pages at the moment. I'm sure all Smith fans (like me) can't wait for it to be finished.

A recent post on the forums of the News Askew website by Kevin Smith states that the film will be a period piece, set during the late 1980s or early 1990s. Jamie Anderson will be the film's director of photography.

According to a report on AICN, Kevin Smith spoke at Indiana University recently. During the four hour Q&A session, Smith commented on the film. He has delayed the start of shooting from March 2002 to June 2002 because his lead, Ben Affleck, has taken the lead role in Daredevil.

Smith currently has three films on his plate. This one, Fletch Won and an animated Clerks movie to be based on the short lived TV series. Smith wants Jason Lee for the Fletch role. It's supposed to be an origin story so it isn't a problem that he is considerably younger than Chevy Chase who portrayed Fletch in the first two films.

Cinema Confidential reports that at one of Kevin Smith's recent college lectures he announced the title of his next project. It will be called Jersey Girl and will revolve around fatherhood and parenting. No doubt Smith is drawing off his own recent experience for this one.

He also claims that Ben Affleck will sign on to the project if he doesn't take the offered Daredevil role over at Fox.

Thanks to Thomas.
