The photo says it all.

It pays to ask. I was having a terrible time getting pictures at this game in the first half. The coaches seemed to be actively trying to place themselves between me and the action. At half time I went and asked if they'd mind me roaming the sidelines. It was no problem at all. When you're getting good photos of their team and/or kid, they don't mind at all. So that gave me the freedom to get shots like this one.

Tonight we tinker with light painting. I've shot plenty of night photos but never really played around with this idea before. Very simply, while the shutter is open, you play a light over something in the shot, highlighting it. In this case, the dugout was painted with my flashlight. It would have been near invisible otherwise.

On the flip side is a photo of my other son taken very close to this in which he is all smiles and sunshine. But it lacks all the artsy cool stuff of this shot. I spent a long time deciding which photo to go with. I'm still not sure actually.

So here we have a picture generated by compositing three photos. One is obviously a shot of a crow flying overhead. The other two, strangely, are out of focus shots of wet pavement at night. I was playing with the bokeh created by defocusing the pavement. Again, by itself, not great but all together, kind of interesting. At least I think so. Let me know what you think.

The leaves that seem to float are for day 169. Those I'm rather proud of. I started taking this picture because I liked that this tree stuck up all alone, and against the foggy background, that seemed cool. But as I moved around trying to find the best angle, I realized that the chain link fence that separated us created a nice effect when I let that drift into the frame. Suddenly the branches seemed to be poking up out of a mist, almost floating in air.
Just a reminder, that should I forget to post stuff here, you can always find the most recent picture and others that aren't part of my 365 day project at my Flickr page.

His mom told him that he could have any pumpkin he wanted, as long as he could carry it. This one just barely qualified.

I love how excited these kids are breaking the huddle. Look at those faces on the right. They are loving this. But what makes it so cool, is that this is after the game. They're that wound up and happy, despite being tired from the game.
