Let's skip the requisite snide comment about this project not being dead yet and get right to some surprising news, namely that people are actually being cast for the movie.

Up first is that favorite of the Star Wars set, small person Warwick Davis.  He will be playing Marvin the Paranoid Android.  He's just the guy in the suit though, someone else, as yet uncast, will handle the voice.  You can check out a prototype of the costume here.  Jim Henson's Creature Shop is handling the design.  It isn't necessarily the final design but I like it a lot either way.

The lead, Arthur Dent, has been offered to Martin Freeman (Love Actually, The Office).  Negotiations are underway for that one.

Next, the Magrathean fjord guru Slartibartfast will be played by Bill Nighy (Love Actually, Underworld).  This is such a brilliant bit of casting it almost gives me hope.
