Three years ago, John Logan brought us what the Academy considered the “best picture” of 2000, the Russell Crowe epic Gladiator. Logan followed up the script a year later (dated May 18th, 2001) with another epic starring another action star, Tom Cruise. This time the result is a vast improvement over it’s predecessor and it takes the form of a Kurosawa homage entitled The Last Samurai. Samurai, like Gladiator, blends historic events with drama and carnage. However, this one might actually deserve the title of “best picture” come next winter.

We finish the week with The United States of Leland. Our fun-loving webmaster John Shea give us the truth about that project premiering at The Sundance film festival. Five more script reviews will be unleashed next week. Should I tease you readers? How about reviews of the scripts to the next Denzel Washington and Tom Cruise films? That's just the tip of the iceberg. Have a great weekend!!!

Another day. Another script review. Hot off the press is Miss Jones' take Chris Rock's Head of State. I had the chance of reading it too and it was a riot. It has serious potential to be a surprise hit in two months. To finish off the first week of our script review marathon, our very own Webmaster, John Shea will report on The United States of Leland. I'll add a little dose of wackiness to the next issue with a brand new edition of The DeadPool Mail Diary. Don't miss it...

Hope you liked the new design of the website and my column. I was going to write a Chicago review but changed my mind. From all the gazillion films I've seen in the past 3 weeks, Narc is one of my favorite. So here's my two cents on this Friday's new release...

I hope you enjoyed our last issue featuring my interview with screenwriter Joshua Sternin. To finish the week, we have my editor John Shea's review of the recently revived screenplay to Peter Jackson's King Kong remake. Has anyone noticed the similarities between Jackson and King Kong? Both are extremely hairy and both come from an island in the middle of nowhere. Strange, isn't it?
