I find it hard every year to compile a list of its ten best films. I am only a film critic in my spare time and I find it hard to catch more than 25% of the films that are out there due to time and money. Furthermore, I live in Wisconsin and a lot of the independent and art-house films that strike in LA/NY do not make it here until January and February so my list always suffers a lag. That being said, here is probably the fifth version of my top ten favorite films of 2003.

I know it's been a week but I've been awfully busy during that time. Hopefully the column will be published a little more often this week. We've got a script review of Timeline to begin with. Is anyone surprised that the second Harry Potter movie made less money opening weekend? Hopefully that trend will continue for that franchise...

This past Saturday night, I had the amazing pleasure of seeing one of my all-time heroes, Bruce Springsteen, in concert. What a show!!! It rocked from beginning to end. The crowd of 20,000+ really loved the Boss. I took a few pictures of the event. The E Street Band really kicked major behind too! Clarence on the sax and Max on the drums were the highlight. Still, it was all about the Boss who even spoke a few words in french. It was the best concert of my existence...

If you liked Undercover Brother, then you'll love Malibu's Most Wanted. And if you laughed at Undercover Brother but just couldn't get passed how ignorantly portrayed Black people seemed to be (me!!), then you'll have the same sentiments towards Malibu's Most Wanted, only amplified a few decibles. You've no doubt seen the movie trailer by now so you know that MMW's main source of humor is putting the popular image of a Black rapper in the body of a wealthy White boy, Brad or B-Rad Gluckman (Jaime Kennedy), and watching this juxtaposition play itself out in the worlds of the rich and famous and down and out, respectively. The fact that all images are extremely exaggerated make them even more ridiculously funny. Funny, meaning that the first three quarters of the script is an absolute riot. After that, it sinks to the depth of utter stupidity due to recycled humor and surgically positioned special effects. I suppose some would describe the whole thing that way, but I'll be nice.

Another week, another column. I'm surviving through an awful cold. I hate early spring. The shifting temperatures always get me sick. Our new collaborator, Verbal is back with a brand new script review. He's a talented young writer so we'll definitely have more of his work soon. The next issue will feature Miss Jones' take on Malibu's Most Wanted.

This month's 2nd column brings Miss Jones' two cents of the unproduced screenplay One Love. Hopefully next week, we'll have two more script reviews to share with the world. Make sure to catch Phone Booth this weekend, it's a great thriller. Cya next week!

No, don't worry this is not an April fool's issue. There is an actual screenplay called Bring it On Again. We also have a new collaborator called Verbal. Don't worry he's not fictitious. I hope you enjoy his UDC debut. Did you hear the announcement that Peter Jackson's next movie would be King Kong? Then maybe you remember we told you all about that script months ago.
